Basic information
Sample name: Pilauco (lower PB-7)

Reference: R. Labarca. 2020. Taphonomy of the Pilauco Site, northwestern Chilean Patagonia. In Pilauco: A Late Pleistocene Archaeo-paleontological Site (eds. M. Pino, G. Astorga), pp. 123-156 [ER 3388]
Geography
Country: Chile

Coordinate: 40° 34' 12" S, 73° 6' 12" W
Coordinate basis: stated in text

Time interval: Late Pleistocene

Max Ma: 0.01365

Min Ma: 0.012173

Age basis: radiocarbon (uncalibrated)

Geography comments: coordinate is given by Pino et al. (2020)
numerous uncalibrated 14C dates range from 13650 +/0 70 to 12173 +/- 42 ybp

Environment
Lithology: sandstone

Taphonomic context: carnivore accumulation

Archaeology: stone tools

Habitat comments: in PB-7 there are "stone artifacts, a large number of plant and invertebrate remains. It corresponds to a dark-brown organic matrix (10YR 3/1) filling the porous space of the sand that supports the sediment"; the sediments are colluvial instead of fluvial and are not paleosols (Pino et al. 2020)
"No human marks of any kind were identified" but there is carnivore damage and the "site corresponded mainly to a place of feeding for large extinct felids" on a gomphothere

Methods
Life forms: ungulates,other large mammals,birds

Sampling methods: quarry

Sample size: 67 specimens

Years: 2010 - 2017

Sampling comments: the gomphothere mostly or entirely represents a single individual
Pino et al. (2013, Quaternary International) provide a different list for all of PB-7 combined that includes additional species apparently not present in the lower part
