Geography comments: Barranc de la Boella is located 6 km from the Mediterranean coast in a ravine in the town of la Canonja (Tarragona)

LM2 is the base layer within Unit II of the La Mina site, one of three sites at Barranc de la Boella alongside El Forn and Pit 1

Unit II was dated using palaeomagnetism and cosmogenic nuclides dates

Environment
Lithology: sandstone

Taphonomic context: fluvial deposit

Archaeology: stone tools

Habitat comments: Barranc de la Boella formed in a "fluvio-deltaic sedimentary environment"

The sites are located in "fluvial and debris flow" deposits

"LM Unit II is composed of poorly stratified massive sand"

There are low levels of water abrasion, indicating a small amount of modification by low-intensity water flows

Weathering on remains is low (22.2%), and what is present is "stage 1" which indicates rapid burial at the site

"Percussion pits" were identified on 4 remains, indicating some level of access by hominins to the carcasses, as does the presence of some stone tools

Carnivore marks are seen on 36 faunal remains

Methods
Life forms: carnivores,primates,ungulates,other small mammals,birds,turtles
