Lithology: claystone

Taphonomic context: lake deposit

Habitat comments: The lithology of Afoud is primarily made up of gypsum clays with some beds of limestone or marls

Samples taken from this area of the Aït Kandoula basin are typically in calcareous and silty layers, mainly of lacustrine to palustrine origin

Ecological affinities indicate relatively warm, dry conditions during the deposition, in an environment of "open herbaceous areas with occasional forest patches"
