Within each segment, 9 Sherman live traps (9 x 8 x 23 cm) were placed so that 1 set of 3 traps was placed evenly along each of 3 parallel transects located 1, 25, and 37 m from the shore" of a given lake; "Trapping was conducted in July and August of 1981. Three trapping periods of 3 nights each provided 81 trap nights/segment. Traps were baited with a mixture of rolled oats, peanut butter, and skim milk powder"
