Geography
Country: Bulgaria

Coordinate: 42° 9' 30" N, 22° 31' 0" E
Coordinate basis: stated in text

Geography comments: "shared between Bulgaria and Macedonia" but sampling was on the Bulgarian side

Environment
Habitat: temperate broadleaf/mixed forest

Protection: unprotected

Substrate: ground surface

Habitat comments: "The Rilo-Osogovski low-mountain climatic region includes the most eastern and northern-eastern parts of the mountain (between 600 and 1000 m a.s.l.), where winters are typically mild (-1 to -2°C mean temperatures in January) and summers not very hot (24°C to 26°C mean temperatures in July). The high altitude areas (above 1000 m a.s.l.) which belong to the mountainous climatic region are characterised by lower winter temperatures (-6°C to -8°C) and long-lasting snow cover... Almost 97% of Osogovo is covered by deciduous, coniferous and mixed forests which are relatively unaffected by human influence... The Bulgarian part of Osogovo is a Natura 2000 site" but "The only protected area in the mountain is the «Tsarna reka» reserve"
