Geography comments: "Qubur al-Walaydah is a small archaeological site in south-west Israel with a total size of about two ha. The site is located on the right bank of the Nahal Besor stream between Tell Jemmeh and Tell el-Far'ah (South)".
"The fauna dates to Iron Age II occupation phases associated with the 8th–7th centuries BCE" (Lehmann et al. 2010 report that these dates are based on analysis of the associated pottery)

Habitat comments: The Iron Age II occupation at Field 2 is constrained to strata III, IV, and V. "The site was probably occupied by a single farmstead during Stratum VI"; "there was also apparently only a single building on the small mound in Stratum V".
"On the occupation surfaces of this stratum (V) substantial amounts of pottery were found, including a cooking pot. There was also a pit within Stratum V that was rich with pottery finds". Several damaged walls were found in strata III and IV, including some with stone foundations in Stratum III. "There are no settlement remains after Stratum III".

Sampling comments: "In 2007 and 2009 two seasons of excavations were conducted at the site. The excavations concentrated on two fields. In Field 1 400 square meters were opened and in Field 2 a total of 150 square meters were excavated".
The faunal remains below are derived from thirty-four baskets associated with sixteen different loci from Field 2.
