Coordinate: 39.953667° N, 32.422974° E
Coordinate basis: stated in text

Time interval: Early Miocene

Zone: MN2

Section: GOK4

Max Ma: 22.200001

Min Ma: 20.700001

Age basis: Ar-Ar

Geography comments: The Gökler locality is situated in an abandoned lignite mine NE of the town of Gökler, Turkey

Ar/Ar dated has constrained the section to 22.2 +/- 0.2 Ma - 20.7 +/- 0.2 Ma

Environment
Lithology: sandstone

Taphonomic context: lake deposit

Habitat comments: Geological information is described in Van den Hoek Ostende et al. 2019

"The material that will be described below originates from thin (25 cm) silty sandstone layer (GOK4) exposed just above the first lignite horizon between two well-dated volcanic layers"

"We tentatively suggest that Gökler represents a wooded marshland" based on faunal composition and lignitic facies

Very little taphonomic information is provided, the assemblage has been tentatively correlated with a wooded marshland and is therefore categorized as "lacustrine"
